[D] Ring, Ring.
Hello Cadet Beirstadt, I don’t believe we have met before but, I recently received a distress call and I was looking through the list of currently on duty officers and your name popped up and I was wondering if you would like to help me check it out. Please meet me in the hanger bay as soon as you can for a further briefing. Lt. Cdr Zeza

"Oop!" Hop braked and reached into her bag to fish out her PADD. "Well, I guess it's time to get to work!" She said cheerily. The little robot bird landed on her shoulder and made a sad sound. "Yeah, sorry Zip, you're gonna have to go in the bag. Don't worry, though! I'll let you peek if you promise not to tell." She gently rubbed the robot's breast and it's appendages retracted so that it looked like a small, metal egg. She slipped it into a mesh pocket in her bag. Then she responded to the message and turned around.

She walked out of the engineering room, a big smile on her face and her hands gripping her new weapon tightly. It would take a while to get used to it and learn how to use it she knew, like it always was when using a new weapon. She hurries to the turbolift excitedly.

Mona started down the hallway, she walked slowly hands politely placed behind her back as she had always done. She walked a little slower because she particularly enjoyed the conversation with Austin. “Oh I don’t doubt it. He’ll be an excellent Captain someday. They’ll all be excellent at whatever they’ll do. But I know I’ll want to Captain a ship forever. I can’t imagine myself sitting behind a desk.”
Avatar
Lieutenant Austin Whidbey | SEC BOT 18-Feb-22 03:22 AM
He chuckled, slowing his pace down to match. He kept his arms at his sides in a slightly more formal stance then he'd normally keep. "That's about the part of the reason I've never left security. I never want to stop serving in the field, I couldn't imagine the nervousness that could come with only hearing how things are going in the field."
Avatar
Captain Mona Caddel | CMD BOT 18-Feb-22 04:31 AM
“Well I know I’ll be bored as hell sitting behind a desk. Giving orders while the rest of the fleet gets to have fun? I don’t think so.” She shook her head with distaste of the thought. “I would like a bigger ship at some point though. Maybe one of those intrepid class retrofits that are starting to roll off the assembly line. You know what, nothing beats a brand new ship. Not even an old ship that’s got novel pages of history.”
Avatar
Captain Mona Caddel | CMD BOT 26-Apr-22 08:19 PM
She listened as he went in detail, Mona agreed with that, smaller was better and more efficient and not to mention easy to mass produce. “Aye, but I’m sure we’ll get back to making larger more powerful ships that come in limited production. I prefer the larger ships because in the future I may way to perform diplomatic operations in addition to exploration. The quarters on the Eventide certainly aren’t an ambassadorial suite like on some of those bigger classes. But of course I love this gal just as Rodriguez loved the Mimosa. She could loose a nacelle and be half. After up, but I won’t give up on her until there’s nothing left.”

Captain Mephistopheles Mo | CMD BOT 26-Apr-22 08:37 PM
"Yeah, you're right. Maybe if there's another boom of newly discovered species like with the Bajoran wormhole, they'll decide it's worth it to keep more around. 'Course, that boom led to a war, so maybe they'd be warships." Mo looked faintly disappointed by the idea. "Or maybe they'll use stations like these. Diplomats prefer static locations." "Oh, and by the way, that ship I'd like to recycle one day, in my dreams - I hope the name's not taken 'cause I'd really like to call it Theseus. As for yours - you must'a taken her on a decent number of missions already if you're so attached." He could relate. It used to be the Vulture for him. But then, you know, trauma.

Captain Mona Caddel | CMD BOT 27-Apr-22 01:20 PM
Mona nodded in agreement, but the thought of yet another war was displeasing to her. “Well, it was more sentimental value I guess you could say. She never really went on too many operations, stuck to the nearest solar systems and didn’t go any further unless we had an escort to tandem with. Sometimes we’d get the occasional salvage operation where we’d tow ships out of danger, but we’d never enter ship to ship combat. You know those Oberth classes, little to no weaponry.” “You know what. In many ways the Eventide reminds me the Mimosa, but if you dialed up the power to level ten and threw in an advanced sensor array. Which reminds me, we’re almost to engineering, you. Might want to brace yourself.”
Avatar
Captain Mephistopheles Mo | CMD BOT 27-Apr-22 01:32 PM
He'd meant the Eventide, but he was happy to listen to her talk about the Mimosa's missions (Mimissions) as well. However, he had very little to say about it except to nod along and hum in agreement when she made the comment about Oberth classes. "Brace myself. Interestin' phrasing. I hope I'm about to get blown away figuratively, not literally."

Caddel had turned the corner and approached the doors that lead to the engine room, they were only a few feet off now. “Trust me it’s already been blown up at least three or four times. And we don’t even have a chief of engineering, it’s just some Lieutenant running the entire show, and I must say they’re surprisingly excellent at it, we were dead in the water at least a few times and they were able to get us back up. I’ve been meaning to debrief the entire crew but you know how other things pile up and get in the way when you’re a Captain.”
Avatar
Captain Mephistopheles Mo | CMD BOT 27-Apr-22 02:16 PM
Mo's brow furrowed in concern. No chief of Engineering to coordinate all the tube gremlins? That's a recipe for a disaster. No wonder their engine blew up so much. "Er, I was jokin', but goddamn. You've been busy with 'er. And you don't have a - if I weren't part of Command now, headin' the station, I'd submit my resume. I get it, though. The snail's pace of paperwork. Sounds like this Lieutenant, whatever their name is - sounds like they either need a promotion or to be cut some slack."

Well, while they were on the subject of personnel. “I’ve been thinking about a few people who need to be bumped up a notch. I think I’ll put them on the list. And while we’re talking about personnel, it’s important to mention your current COS, Austin Whidbey wants to transfer and take up the position of COS aboard the Eventide. He’s already spoken with me, I wanted to know what you thought before we do anything too quickly.” Mona approached cautiously, or at least tried to, loosing a COS wasn’t a small matter. He would have to find a replacement which would prove to be more of an annoyance.

Captain Mephistopheles Mo | CMD BOT 27-Apr-22 02:45 PM
"That doesn't surprise me," Mo replied, shrugging casually. It's not like he knew Whidbey's plans, but the guy hadn't seemed at his best when he asked for a day off. This was just a continuation of that request. A very long and permanent vacation on the Eventide. "I don't see why not, honestly. He'll have to wait 'til I sort out his replacement just in case somethin' goes down, but luckily I already have someone in mind: Lieutenant Samantha Voxellus. I've still yet to officially meet her, which I'd like to as part of the process, but I've looked at her record and since she's already the Assistant Chief, it seems kinda natural. Don't tell 'er if you see 'er, though, it's best not to get people's hopes up in case somethin' happens."

Captain Mona Caddel | CMD BOT 27-Apr-22 09:57 PM
“Understood.” Caddel nodded at his directions, then made the move to enter the #ship-engineering. “You’re taking that better than I would’ve honestly. I would’ve been quite annoyed with the transition, I’ve only been with Samantha once and they seem to be a competent replacement. Although from what I’ve seen, there may be some changes to the department if you decide to make her your permanent COS.”

She continued after him, and then took the lead, continuing down the hall to the turbo lift again. “Any questions about her so far?”

Captain Mephistopheles Mo | CMD BOT 28-Apr-22 03:23 PM
"I'd like to know how many missions she's seen and what they were like." Mo looked away, his eyes narrowed. "I heard there was an event with the Borg and Species 8472 'fore I came on board."
Avatar
Captain Mona Caddel | CMD BOT 28-Apr-22 04:31 PM
Caddel let out a sigh, it seemed all of the earlier missions were chaotic and uncoordinated, she was working on trying to fix that. Aye, that was quite a situation, it never strays far from my thoughts, I should’ve known the Borg would deceive us. Now they’ve got an 8472 specimen and I wish I could say I didn’t know what they were going to do with it.”
Avatar
Captain Mephistopheles Mo | CMD BOT 28-Apr-22 04:55 PM
Mo frowned as he followed Mona, his gaze set straight ahead, trying to tame his internal paranoia. Seemed the Borg and Species 8472 pursued him wherever he went. "Yeah. You wouldn't expect them to be capable of deception since they're so used to honesty among their own kind, like Betazoids in their little cybernetic hivemind - just outsiders are fair game, I s'pose. They seek the truth of total mental assimilation among all species, and yet they'll lie to achieve it. Though, in some ways, it's a good sign. The Borg only use deception in absence of strength. Hopefully the 8472 Specimen won't give them that strength, or next time they won't come to us armed only with lies."
Avatar
Captain Mona Caddel | CMD BOT 28-Apr-22 07:14 PM
“Well, what concerns me is they quite literally specified that they would be back. And that is certainly worrying, because if they do succeed in assimilating that creature it may mean the end of life in multiple sectors, but we’ll be stopping them before that happens. I can say I have much experience taking the Borg head on, but I’ve been pretty good at wiggling this ship out of combat. I just wish we got to conduct research more than we conduct battle.” Mona rounded the corner and continued toward the lift again. Caddel tried not to watch the man’s expressions and kept her eyes on the path ahead. Staring was rude.. but what she did she was something of worry, perhaps fear of the collective? Anyone would be, its the Borg.
Avatar
Captain Mephistopheles Mo | CMD BOT 29-Apr-22 09:55 AM
"Ah. Quite literally." He pronounced that last word like 'licherally'. Considering her RP accent, she'd probably recognise it as Cockney. Luckily for him, though (but not so much for her), the ship would be more likely to face the Borg head-on than the station, but the promised return was ominous nonetheless. "I admire your confidence and I share your feelins on the matter. I'sa pity how often flying machines are made for violence. I've read of aeronautical engineers on Earth during its wars, with man's long-held dream of flying in their 'earts, lamentin' their creations were sent out t'kill and die just after they were born. They would'a loved this ship, though." The thought made his frown lessen in intensity. But then he shook his head. "Sorry, I swear I didn't come here to wax poetical." It was odd, how eloquent he could be while having an accent that would've been considered ineloquent on Earth before they'd sorted out their prejudices a little. "I don't have any more questions, but feel free to ramble as much as me for the rest of the tour."
Avatar
Captain Mona Caddel | CMD BOT 29-Apr-22 04:00 PM
“Don’t worry about poetics, in fact I’d consider myself to be something of a poet myself.” Caddel continued on with the tour, and showed Mo everything about the ship from stem to stern, and went into detail about most of the systems, she tried to get to know the Eventide like the back of her hand since it was her ship after all, and in the event of an emergency she would probably be running trying to save the ship from whatever was tormenting it at the time. And after going into detail for an long while and showing off the ship. The two found themselves back on #deck-8-hallway heading back toward the airlock.

Austin snuck quietly through the corridor. He had been hoping to do some recon but perhaps asking the computer would be the next best thing. "Computer, How many life signs are currently in engineering."

Deep in the dark, Milo was here kicking the shit out of Austin's team. Using the darkness to his advantage, he was slipping in and out of combat at different places in the hallway. He was so effective that he had already killed one of the security team, and was now using their gun on the kill setting.

Lt. Cdr. Austin Whidbey | SEC BOT 25-Sep-22 12:06 AM
He thought to himself 'fuck it.' and began unloading (on stun) both his phasers into the darkness, aiming primarily wherever he had seen the light of the phaser emitting from. It was crude and he was most certainly about to hit several friendly's but it was his best chance at shooting his target.

Using the security team as cover, Milo managed to make it a fair bit down the hallway before being grazed by one of the phaser shots. He fell down and quickly got up into a crouch, making his way further into the black until he was fully out of sight. It was official, a S31 sleeper was now on the loose inside Eventide.
